Applications
- Composites - PowerMetal foils are suitable for fiber reinforced composite lay-ups replacing expensive pre-preg in designs calling for isotropic layers. Various thicknesses and compositions are available including the Invar composition to avoid thermal expansion mis-matches. Applications for PowerMetal foils include: composite bicycle frames, baseball bats, hockey sticks, ski poles, and tennis racquets.
- Magnetic Shielding - Current research projects include the study of the electro-magnetic properties of n-Nickel Iron alloys for suitability in applications typically suited for Permalloy® and Mumetal® compositions. PowerMetal nanometal foils offer a superior strength-to-weight ratio with similar or improved magnetic shielding properties as compared to existing magnetic shielding foils of similar composition.
